What If This Isn’t a Breakdown But a New Soul Season?

Updated: Apr 23

A deeper look at the invisible turning points that reconfigure a person's life from the inside out.

A nude figure, Venus, stands on a seashell, flanked by two flying figures and a woman on land. Flowing hair and drapery, set against a serene sea.
The midlife season is an invitation from the soul to finally embrace who you came here to be.

There are times in life when something quietly begins to unravel.

The feeling often starts subtly, first as an uneasiness you can’t explain, a longing that catches you off guard in moments that should feel fulfilling. You may still be performing your roles well ~ partner, mother, father, leader, healer, entrepreneur ~ but the inner texture of things has changed.

There’s a sense that something underneath the surface is moving.

For many high-achieving, emotionally intelligent leaders, this change is not dramatic at first. It shows up in the small moments: the strange melancholy at the end of a successful day, the urge to retreat into solitude despite being deeply loved, the quiet question that begins to surface in the night: Is this still true for me? Is this still the life I want to live?

There’s often no clear language for this experience, only a slow dissolving of the familiar contours of who you thought you were. And so it’s easy to assume something must be going wrong, that you're breaking down, that the universe is conspiring against you.

But from where I sit, in my work as a Jungian psychospiritual advisor, archetypal astrologer, and vibrational medicine practitioner, I see something very different.

I see a person entering what I call a new Soul Season.

A Soul Season is not a crisis. It’s an initiation.

It’s a threshold space that opens when the deeper architecture of your psyche begins to shift.

And while it can look like burnout, grief, discontent, or disorientation on the surface, the deeper reality is far more meaningful: you are entering into dialogue with the archetypal foundations of your being. Something in the cosmos is calling forth a metamorphosis of selfhood, and your current identity, no matter how carefully cultivated and polished, is being invited to evolve.

This process rarely announces itself with clarity at first. In fact, it often begins in the form of longing or loss. The structures that once held you start to feel too small. You may feel as though life is hollowing you out or unraveling you in private. But there is a deeper order at work, what historian Richard Tarnas would describe as the unfolding of an archetypally informed cosmos, a reality in which psyche and cosmos are intimately, even mysteriously, entangled.

To live through a Soul Season is to find yourself at the intersection of biography and cosmology, where your personal life converges with larger patterns of meaning in an interconnected cosmos.

The astrological roots of this experience...

In archetypal astrology, we recognize that these threshold periods are often marked by what are known as outer planet transits. These are long, often disorienting cycles initiated by the movements of Pluto, Neptune, or Uranus, each of which corresponds to particular modes of psychic transformation.

When Pluto transits the natal chart, for instance, we often find ourselves undergoing a deep purgation. What is no longer true or vital in our lives is pulled to the surface, often through confrontation with shadow content, loss, or upheaval. It can feel like a death of identity or a total breakdown of the life you had been living. But it is also the fertile ground for regeneration. The energy of Pluto is palpable as we enter the uncertain, shadowy borderlands of midlife.

Neptune is also necessary in this midlife transition and dissolves boundaries and structures we didn’t even know we had. Under Neptune’s influence, our compass may feel temporarily lost, but what’s being invited is a deeper trust in mystery, in intuition, and in the invisible threads that bind all life together.

Uranus brings disruption, insight, and creative upheaval, cracking open the fixed structures of our lives to make space for more authentic freedom. It can feel quite chaotic, but it is often the catalyst for reinvention. After people go through their midlife Uranus transit, they look back and understand with reverence what it was all for in the first place.

Saturn is not considered an outer planet but a liminal social planet that bridges the personal inner planets with the transpersonal outer planets and their energies, so it's worth touching. on Saturn's influence a bit.

Saturn, wise, ancient Saturn, brings the slow weight of time. During Saturn transits, we are asked to take full responsibility for our lives, to refine our integrity, and to align with the truth of who we are becoming. This happens several times throughout our life, with the most notable happening in the late 20s early 30s known as the first Saturn return.

These transits are not abstract events. They are deeply lived experiences. Their symbolism is not imposed from without, but arises from a synchronicity between inner and outer worlds. The movement of the cosmos is mirrored in your own psyche and soul. And so when a new Soul Season begins, it is not only your psychology that is shifting but the cosmos itself is responding to that shift.

Why this happens most often at the threshold of our middle years...

These seasons can arrive at any time, but I’ve found they often reach a crescendo around the middle years of life. Not because anything is wrong, but because something profound is ready to emerge. That 'something' is your soul's urge to fulfill its primordial purpose of remembering its connection to the Unity, which we each do in our own unique and special way.

By the time we reach midlife, many people have spent decades building lives based on inherited expectations, early impulsive or ill-informed choices, or outer-facing roles. And for many, it worked...for a while at least. But the outer planets don’t honor the social script. They honor the soul and the legacy it came here to birth. And when they activate, they initiate a reconfiguration of our deepest patterns.

These years are not about crisis, though it may seem that way on the surface. They are about course correction and getting you on the path you came here to walk. The parts of you that were put away, dimmed down, or hidden for psychological (ego) safety are now rising to be integrated. The old map no longer works because you are being invited into a new terrain of being.

What you are feeling is not failure. It is complexity. It is depth. It is the demand for an authenticity that refuses to be postponed.

But what if I can’t name what’s happening?

Most of my clients arrive not knowing they are in a Soul Season. They come with phrases like:

“I don’t know who I am anymore.” “Something’s shifting, but I don’t know where it’s leading.” “I feel like I’m in between versions of myself.” “My life still looks good on paper, but it doesn’t feel good anymore.”

These aren’t signs of collapse or breakdown, though it can certainly feel that way. They are signs of emergence, and it's messy, chaotic, maddening, and beautiful all at once.

This is why I offer bespoke, private intensives. To help you locate yourself in time ~ in soul time, in archetypal time ~ and to understand what this moment in your life is asking of you. We explore your most potent current planetary transits and pair them with specific vibrational medicines and protocols that can support your integration and healing. The unconscious contents that flare forth during this work cannot be left without direction, so I utilize vibrational modalities to help you integrate the unconscious energy in a healthy way.

This is not fortune telling. This is soul mapping. And it’s work I take very seriously. It's my life's work.

Because when you understand the archetypal forces shaping your Soul Season, everything changes. Your story deepens. Your symptoms begin to speak. And your life begins to feel less like something to survive, and more like a joyful mystery to consciously participate in.

You are not broken. You are becoming.

This process is certainly not linear, and it’s not meant to be done quickly. But it is profoundly meaningful. If you look to nature, you'll notice growth patterns of plants, stones, landscapes, and even the distant galaxies that represent a spiral or vortex. This not only indicates the cyclical nature of our world, it shows you that growth and evolution do not happen in a straight line. Your growth and evolution is the same.

Whether you’re currently navigating an identity shift, a spiritual longing, a radical reinvention, or an inner unraveling, this is not the end of your story. It may be the beginning of the one your soul came here to tell. Are you up for the challenge?

If you are, I would be honored to walk beside you as you navigate this next chapter. I would cherish the opportunity to help expand your vision of what you think is possible for you in this moment ~ for your health, relationships, spirituality, and wealth.

If this resonates, you’re welcome to explore my private immersion where we uncover your current soul season and design a personalized energetic and archetypal support plan. This isn’t astrology as entertainment. It’s astrology as a doorway to your primordial purpose.

With reverence for the mystery,
